About

This is me!

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Hedlund. My family moved from the Twin Cities to Owatonna in 2016 in search of a smaller community and we fell in love with Owatonna! I am a wife, mother of 4, and a physician assistant. Two of my children are biological and 2 are adopted, one is from Haiti and the other came to us through foster care and we now have permanent legal custody.

The reason I became a candidate for the ISD 761 school board was because we have concerns for the changing culture, environment, and ideologies that are now common in many American schools, including Minnesota. As parents, my husband and I believe that we are the primary caregivers, teachers, and role models for our children, and while we are not perfect parents, we have the right to parent our children with the beliefs and values that we desire to instill in them. Our five family values are simple and are framed in our home: love God, family first, work hard, tell the truth, and be kind. As imperfect humans living and working and striving each day, we teach our children to trust God, work hard, and follow the golden rule.

Everyone has unique gifts and talents, and mine involves working with children. After many years working in medicine, I am thrilled to now also be working within our school district, making a positive impact for our children.

Thank you for visiting!!
