About Me

Elizabeth Hedlund

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am first and foremost a follower of Jesus, but also a wife, mother of 4, new grandma, and a physician assistant. Our family is unique in that two of my children are biological and 2 are adopted, one from Haiti and the other came to us through foster care. My family moved from the Twin Cities to Owatonna, MN in 2016 in search of a smaller community. We fell in love with Owatonna! Our five family values are simple and are framed in our home: love God, family first, work hard, tell the truth, and be kind. As imperfect humans living and working each day, we teach our children to trust God, work hard, and follow the golden rule.

I was elected to our school board and have been serving since January 2023.

As a school board member, my goal is to partner with parents and set high academic standards for our children, ensure that all students have the tools needed to succeed, provide the safest environment, and manage taxpayers’ money responsibly and efficiently. Additionally, it is of utmost importance that our teachers and staff are supported and valued. As a board, we continue to work with our superintendent to ensure open honest communication with parents and community residents.
